Faculty of Management and Economics

Aomori Public University has one Faculty (Management and Economics) and three Departments (Management, Economics, and Regional Frontier). In this faculty, we instruct our students such that they are able to develop a strong theoretical and practical understanding of their respective subjects; this affords them the capacity and fortitude to think outside the box, employing multifaceted approaches to addressing the complexities of modern society.

Learning with practical application(s) for self and societal development and contribution

Learning is not simply the acquisition of theoretical knowledge but equally involves the application of acquired knowledge in solving real individual and societal problems, and by so doing, the veracity of theories may be confirmed.

We lead our lives through our daily choices that influence our activities

We aim to lead successful lives and to develop sustainable societies by effectively utilising the ever so limited resources (capital, manpower, commodity and information) available to us all. The focus on the organisation of these resources such that new values are created/developed is referred to as “management”, whilst the platform upon which these interactions and transactions are undertaking is “Economics”. Lastly, the location wherein these activities are carried out is known as “region”.

Aomori Public University’s Faculty of Management and Economics is dynamic in its pursuit to develop new methods of solving social issues of diverse nature. It does so by exploring new avenues that are strongly footed upon the principles of management, economics and region.

Our faculty fosters diversity in approach, initiative and critical thinking in problem-solving, practical experimentation and/or application of theories through the consolidation of “management”, “economics”, and “region”. The faculty is an ideal setting for those wishing to actively contribute to the society and region whilst also enriching their own knowledge base.

Department of Management

The subject that focuses on strategising meaningful and diverse approaches to successful corporate management

In our fast-pace modern world characterised by rapid changes in environment, and fierce competition in the marketplace, the study of management will equip individuals with the expertise and perspective required to operate in such competitive environments therefore achieving success. Expertise and perspective are indispensable in achieving the organisational objectives so important in the effective management of our ever diminishing pool of resources. The capacity to apply critical thinking, and to undertake situational analysis in real setting is actively practised, cultivated and encouraged throughout the department. The department therefore is equipped to support individuals wishing to gain these skills and to apply them in society.

Department of Economics

The subject area that deals with the financial element of management, resource acquisition and allocation, in order to build a prosperous society

Economics is not simply about finance or money but also encompasses the act of making choices. Economics seeks to address the financial imbalances and/or inadequacies in society by continually distributing and redistributing resources in order to establish a thriving community, region, and country. The department employs a holistic approach in its teaching of economic theories, and encourages learners to seek to broaden their horizons by actively applying their own initiatives in identifying and analysing current economic problems in real-time and attempt to fashion a solution to the problem. We nurture promising and talented individuals who will apply reason, stimulate discussions and debates, design strategies and forge pathways to solutions to problems facing society.

Department of Regional Frontier

Learn, Innovate, and Create through Experimentation and Application

The aim is to acquire knowledge from a wide range of relevant subject areas in order to be equipped to explore the limitless possibilities available at our disposal to establish and to maintain thriving and sustainable communities. A characteristic feature of the department is that students are instructed to learn by experimenting and applying concepts in real-time. This allows them to build confidence that they will need in the workplace upon graduation. We seek to educate individuals who will become regional entrepreneurs, officers and administrators, residents and NPOs.
